Willemijn Verkaik

Willemijn has played the character of Elphaba in Wicked over 2,000 times for which she received three major awards and, after making her Broadway debut, is the only actress to have performed the role in three languages. She made her West End debut in Wicked in October 2013 and performed ‘Defying Gravity’ live on the roof of Covent Garden at the Olivier Awards.

Other credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Paulina), Mamma Mia (Donna), Elisabeth (Elisabeth), We Will Rock You (Killer Queen), Aida (Amneris) and she toured Germany with Disney in Concert in 2016 and the Best of Musicals Gala in 2010. She has made numerous concert and television appearances and can also be heard on the Original German Cast recording of Wicked.

Willemijn has performed alongside highly renowned composers such as Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Schwartz, Andrew Lippa and Scott Alan. A fan of Disney since she was a young girl, Willemijn realised another dream by recording the voice of Elsa for the German and Dutch language versions of Disney’s Frozen.
