Grayson Perry

Perry is best known for his word work in the art world, especially ceramics and is also famed for his flamboyant cross-dressing. It’s impossible to discuss Perry’s work without touching upon his transvestite persona since ruminations on gender and identity infuse much of the work. There is a strong autobiographical element, in which images of Perry as “Claire”, his female alter-ego, often appear. He was awarded the Turner Prize in 2003.
